Eric Cooper

Eric Cooper drives the #87E Street Stock Class car.  He lives in Martinsville, IL.  His home track is Charleston Speedway but he can also be found racing at Fayette County Speedway.

He started racing in 2001 in the Street Stock Class after 13 years of Drag Racing.  During that time he had 2 Championships and over 60 wins.  He started racing with his Dad.  His first Street Stock win was in 2003 at Charleston Speedway.  So far, in his 2nd Street Stock season he's got 4 wins and is 8th in the Points. 

The thrill of racing for Eric is meeting new people and talking to other competitors.  His most exciting racing moment was the first win but the best was the night that he came in 2nd to Tim Henson, who has helped Eric the most.  He's most proud of Fan Appreciation night......with the people coming out of the stands for autographs, Eric signed over 50 and didn't know any of them. They knew him!

Eric's racing  hero is Rob Fuqua #3F.

Of racing, Eric says, "It is a lot harder than it looks.  The more I learn, the more I need to learn!".
