J R started racing in 1985 in the Street Stock Class at Charleston Speedway because he just loved it.  His first win was in 1987 in the Street Stock Class at Charleston Speedway.  Career highlights include 1998 Track Champion, 2005 Track Champion and holds new Track Record 17:36.

The thrill of racing for J R is the fans and the time he gets to spend with his boys.  His most exciting racing moment was watching his son race for the first time.

J R's racing heroes are Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Bill Sollers.
