Jim Lafferty drives the #56 Modified Class car.  He lives in Gillespie, IL.  His home track is Godfrey but he can also be found racing at Fayette County Speedway, Macon Speedway and Highland Speedway.

He started racing in 1981 in the Modified Class at Fayette County Speedway because his father and uncle raced for years.  His first win was in 1981 in the Street Stock Class at Godfrey Speedway.  Career highlights include finishing 3rd in Points Championship at two tracks in the same year.  Jim's had 9 Feature wins in the Modified Class.

The thrill of racing for Jim is the rush!  His most exhilarating racing moment was his first win at Godfrey Speedway.  He's most proud of being a clean driver and having the respect from other drivers.

Tony Stewart is Jim's racing hero.
