Shawn Vaughn

Shawn Vaughn drives the #98 Sportsman Class car.  He lives in Loami, IL.  His home track is Macon Speedway but he can also be found racing at Farmer City Raceway, Jacksonville Speedway and Macomb Speedway.

He started racing in 1999 in the Modified Class at Macon Speedway because it was something he'd always wanted to do.  His first win was August 23, 2002 in the Sportsman Class at Macon Speedway.  Career highlights include 14 top 5's, 25 top 10's in 2003, 2 Feature wins in 2002, 40 top 10's, and 58 top 5's in 4 years.

The thrill of racing for Shawn is that side by side action on the dirt.  His most exciting racing moment was finishing fifth to his best friend Shane Tomlin.  Though Shane won, his tire came off the car as he existed turn 4.  Shawn gave him a lift to carry the checkered!  He's most proud of being able to have friends and sponsors talk to you after you take care of business.

Shane Tomlin #18 is Shawn's racing hero.

Of racing Shawn says, "Only one thing ..it's not cheating, or fake.  It's 100% real and we risk our lives every time we get in the car!".
