Darren Kling drives the yellow and red #30 Grand National at
Darren's crew members are: Lee Stark, Ryan & Jenny Kosanke, Dennis
Kling, Patti, Tara & Andrea Deranek.
This is Darren's Rookie season (2006) and it has been a very big
dream of his to be able to race in the Grand National division of the
Nascar Dodge Weekly Series at Lakeside. He was raised on the old Lakeside
Speedway and has pit crewed for other drivers over the years, since he is
a mechanic by trade.
Although Darren has not had a chance for any career highlights yet,
this young man will be one to watch! He's done very well so far finishing
several times in the top 15, and he's most proud of the compliments he's
received for being a "clean driver".
His greatest racing thrill has been competing against his childhood
hero Gene Claxton, and running side by side with 24 other drivers on the
track, all after the same thing, the ultimate 1st place.
The adrenaline of racing against some of the very best racers in the
metro area keeps Darren ready every week, and the family of close
friendships he has made at Lakeside is like coming home to your family
every Friday night, after a long week of work!!
Darren has several quotes about racing and life. "One step at a
time", "easy does it" and "enjoy life, you don't know if tomorrow comes".
His biggest dreams for the future compliment his philosophy on life
and racing and that is to win a heat race, then win a feature race , and
then down the road a track championship.
Darren's racing hero is Dale Earnhardt.
