Mel drives the #1H Late Model Class car.  His home track is Florence Speedway but he can also be found racing at Eldora Speedway.  He lives in Independence, KY.

Mel started racing in 1976 in the Stock Class at Florence Speedway because he wanted to.  His first win was that same year.
