Johnny "The Wheelman" Wheeler drives the
#W1 Late Model Class car. His home track is Bluegrass Speedway but
he can also be found racing at Lake Cumberland Speedway and Richmond
Raceway. He lives in Campbellsville, KY. People who help
Johnny are: Shakey, Flathead, Johnathan, John, Jammie, Family and
Friends.
Johnny started racing in 1979 in the
Sportsman Class at Taylor County Speedway because his whole family raced
and growing up around it, Johnny wanted to become a part of it. His
first win was in 1979 in the Sportsman Class at Taylor County Speedway.
Career highlights include 1995 Inaugural
Race $5000 win at Bluegrass Speedway and the Butterball Wooldridge
Memorial $5000 win at Richmond Raceway, the 1996 Mountain Dew 50 $2700
Lake Cumberland Speedway win, 1998 Bourbon Festival Bash $5000 win at
Bluegrass Speedway,1999 Fall Classic $10,000 Lake Cumberland Speedway win,
the $5000 Richmond Raceway win, 2000 Bluegrass Speedway Track Champion,
2000 USA50 $5000 Barren County Speedway win, 2001 Invitational 50 $5000
Barren County Speedway win, 2001 Barren County Speedway Track Champion,
2003 Lake Cumberland Speedway $10,000 win, 2004 3rd place BOB Points, 3rd
in Points at Barren County Speedway and 4th in Points at Ponderosa
Speedway. He's won over 90 Features at over 45 different tracks.
The thrill of racing for Johnny is seeing
the excitement you get from all the fans and his family being a part of
racing with him. His most exciting racing moment was racing with Ken
Schrader at Lake Cumberland Speedway and winning that race. He's
most proud that he's come a long way, good and bad, but his family has
stood right by his side through it all.
Johnny's racing heroes are his Dad and
Butterball Wooldridge.
Of racing, Johnny says, "Racing is a great
family sport, not only is it a thrill to watch, but you gain so many
friends being involved in this sport! If at first you don't succeed,
try again!".
