Willie Newman drives the #08 Sportsman Class car.  He lives in King, NC.  His home track is Bowman Gray Stadium.

He started racing in 1988 at Bowman Gray for the love of the sport.  His first win was in 1988 in the Street Stock class at Bowman Gray.  Willie was Rookie of the Year in 1988, Runner Up in Points in 1989 and '90, 1996 Sportsman Track Champion and he has over 40 career wins! 

The thrill of racing for Willie is the competition against the other drivers.  His most exciting racing moment was winning the Track Championship in 1996.  He's most proud of his low budget team, out running all of the big money teams!

Junior Johnson is Matt's racing hero.
