He started racing in 1995 in Street Stock  at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, N.C. for the fun of it. Career highlight was 3rd in Points Lancaster in 2000.

The thrill of racing for Gary is the speed. His most exciting moment in racing was wining the Hard Charger Award  at Concord Motorsport Park.
