Matt Lassiter drives the #95 Thunder
Roadster Class car. His home track is Southern National Speedway
but he can also be found racing at the Summer Shootout LMS. He
lives in Grifton, NC.
Matt started racing in 1998 in the Karts
Class at Johnston County Speedway because a track was built near his
house. His first win was in '99 in the Blue Plate Class at
Southern Pitt Raceway. Career highlights include 2004 Thunder
Roadster National Champion, Rookie of the Year, King of the Oval
Champion, 2002 North Carolina Bandolero Young Gun Champion, 2000
Southern Pitt Jr. Restricted Champion.
The thrill of racing for Matt is the
speed but mostly the competition is what makes it all worth it.
His most exciting racing moment was his first lap every because it
landed him in the hospital with two broken ribs! He's most proud
of winning the Thunder Roadster Nationals in Las Vegas, NV.
Matt's racing hero is Jimmie Johnson.
Of racing, Matt says, "There is more to
racing than just going in circles. There is stiff competition!".
