Ben Chilton drives the #55 IMCA Modified
Class car. He lives in Reidsville, NC. His home track is 311
Motor Speedway, but he can also be found racing at Charlotte, Thunder
Valley Speedway and East Lincoln Speedway.
He started racing in 1969 in the Limited
Sportsman Class at Rainbow Speedway because he loved speed and had always
wanted to race. His first win was in 1970 in the Limited Sportsman
Class at Rainbow Speedway. Career highlights include racing with his
son, Doug Chilton.
The thrill of racing for Ben is just the
love of the sport and being with good friends. His most exciting
racing moment was a special Feature win at 311 Speedway in 1998.
He's most proud of building his own engines and doing his own chassis
work.
Ben's racing hero is his son Doug Chilton
who was killed at 311 Speedway in 2000.
Of racing, Ben says, "There is a lot of
fine people associated with our sport!".
