Dustin Small
#24s
Dustin Small drives the #24s IMCA Stock
Class car. His home track is Lincoln County Raceway but he can
also be found racing at Dawson County Speedway. He lives in North
Platte, NE.
Team members helping Dustin are:
Charlie, Ed, Derrick. Larry Small is the car owner.
Dustin started racing in 2002 in the
IMCA Stock Class at McCook Speedway because he grew up around it.
His Dad got him into it when Dustin was young. Dustin's Dad Drag
raced. After he quit, they started going to the Stock Car races
weekly and then they got a Soap Box Derby car. Dustin did that a
few years, then Go Kart racing until he was old enough to go Stock Car
racing! His first win was in 2002 in the IMCA Stock Class at
Lincoln County Raceway, winning his 2nd race the following night at
Dawson County Speedway. Career highlights include 2002 - McCook
Speedway Track Champion and Culbertson Speedway Track Champion, Dawson
County Track Champion and finished 3rd in the Nebraska State Points.
2003 - McCook Speedway Track Champion, Lincoln County Raceway Track
Champion and Dawson County Track Champion and Champion in the Nebraska
IMCA Points.
His most exciting racing moment was his
first Track Championship at McCook Speedway in '02. He went into
the race 3rd in Points without much expectation to win the Championship.
The leader had trouble early and Dustin made his way through the field
and eventually made a turn 4 pass for the lead and the win on the last
lap winning the Championship by ONE Point! He's most proud of how his
relationship with his Dad has grown and all that he has learned from him
and with him!
Dustin's racing heroes are his Dad,
Terry McCarty, Kenny McCarty and David Murray Jr.
Of racing, Dustin says, "I'm just a big
hairy American winning machine!" - Ricky Bobby - Talladega Nights.
