Dickie Layton
#66
Dickie Layton drives the #66 Late Model
Class car. He lives in Taylors, SC. His home track is Anderson
Motor Speedway but he can also be found racing at Greenville-Pickens Speedway
and Jeffco, GA.
He started racing in 1982 in the Hobby
Class at Greenville-Pickens Speedway because he felt it was
something he could be good at. His first win was in 1984 in the
Hobby Class at Greenville-Pickens Speedway. Dickie raced Hobby until
the end of 1985, moving up to Late Models until a very bad crash put him
out of racing until 1997. He's been racing Late Models ever since.
The thrill of racing for Dickie is the
high speed control. His great racing moments are when he's out
running the best around. He's most proud of crawling back in the car
after not walking for four years due to the wreck in 1986.
Dickie's racing hero is David Pearson.
Of racing, Dickie says, "Racing is great
medicine when other things are in the way!".
