Jay Hood drives the #13 Late Model class car. He lives in Florence, South Carolina. His home track is Carolina Speedway. He can also be seen at Sumter Speedway.

Jay began racing in 1977 in the Street class at Timmonsville after going to the races with a friend and thinking, "I can do this." His first win was in 1997 in Street class at Timmonsville.

Career highlights for Jay include being Timmonsville track champion 1981-82. The thrill of racing for him is being able to build your own chassis, car, motor. His most exhilarating moment was winning his first race. He is most proud of  introducing racing to his daughter, she loves it.
