Wayne Clayton
#41
Wayne Clayton drives the #41 Late Model
Sportsman Class car. He lives in Moore, SC. His home track is Cherokee
Speedway, but he can also be found racing at Riverside, Thunder Valley and
Sugar Creek.
Crew members and others who have helped
include, Randy Gilstrap (Crew Chief), Josh Godfrey, Austin Stokes, Jason
Jolley and Jr. Jolley. Car Owners are All In Motorsports.
He began racing in 1987 in Bomber Class at
Cherokee because he had grown up around it. It was what his dad did, so
that is what Wayne wanted! His first win was in 1988 in Baby Bomber Class
at Cherokee. Career highlights include, winning Stock 4 Nationals two
years in a row, and he won 5 Track Championships.
The thrill of racing for Wayne is
that he just doesn't know anything else, it is just part of life for him.
When the week ends, it is just like going to work for him. His most
exciting racing moment was when he and his Dad ran against one another,
they ran side by side the whole race. He is most proud of the fact
that he has never gotten into a fight at the race track.
His racing hero is his Dad, Lewis
Clayton.
Of racing, Wayne says, "If you ever get
the chance, Try it".
