Danny Johnson Sr.

Danny Johnson Sr. drives the #29 4 Cyl class car.  He lives in Sumter, SC.  His home track is Florence Motor Speedway but he can also be found racing at Myrtle Beach Speedway and Summerville Speedway.

He started racing in 1977 in the Street Stock Class at Sumter Speedway because his Father, Lee Johnson and his cousin, Slick Johnson raced.  His first win was in 1977 in the Street Stock Class.  Career highlights include:  1987 winning every race and Track Championship at Sumter Speedway and winning Track Championship at Hartsville/Darlington that same year.  Racing Dirt Late Models and winning Championships in Florence, in 1995 and 2001, with his two boys cheering him on are more highlights.  Racing with his Dad is one of Danny's highlights.  Winning 12 Track Championships from different tracks and over 460 races.  His boys won Bike Racing Championships from 1996-2001.

The thrill of racing for Danny is the hard work paying off at the end of the race.  His most exciting racing moment was his two boys running to the Victory Lane and getting a hug from them.  He's most proud of his father, racing with him and his Dad teaching Danny, making him work harder.  When his father passed away in 1990, his Dad left him with a lot.

Danny's racing hero is Lee Johnson, his father.
