Raef is from James Island SC. Summerville Speedway is his home track and he also races at Hardeeville Speedway. He started racing because his Father races when he was young. He started racing in 1984 in a T&L car at Summerville. 

Raef got his first win  in a open wheel modified at Summerville in 1999.  He has been a crew chief for Bobby Hamilton and Bobby Hamilton Jr in all divisions. He was the 2001 Open wheel Modified champion at Hardeeville in 2001.

Speed and Competition are the thrill of racing for Raef.  His greatest racing thrill was making Darlington as a crew member for Robert.  His greatest racing moment was the first lap he took in a T & L car that his dad had built for him.
