#23
Stephen Leicht drives the #23 Late Model
Class car. He lives in Asheville, NC. His home track is
Newport Speedway but he can also be found racing at Greenville Pickens
Speedway, Hickory Motor Speedway, Tri-County, and Peach State Speedway.
He started racing in 1992 in the Go Carts
in Phoenix, AZ because he thought it would be something fun to try to do.
His first win in the Super Late Model Class was in 2001 at Hickory Motor
Speedway. Career highlights include 2001 he became the youngest driver
ever, at the age of 14, to win a touring series race. 2000 he was
the youngest driver ever, to set track record at Hickory Motor Speedway.
2002 he became the youngest driver, at age 15, to win a Touring Series
Championship (American Challenge Series).
The thrill of racing for Stephen is the
fact that he's out there leading the race with 30 other drivers wanting to
be in his position. His most exhilarating racing moment was his win
at Newport Speedway in 2002. He's most proud of being the youngest
driver, at the age of 13, to win a National Touring Series.
Dale Earnhardt is Stephen's racing hero.
