Chad Paxton drives the #16 Late Model
Class car. His home track is I-77 Speedway but he can also be
found racing at Lancaster Speedway and Carolina Speedway. He lives
in Troutman, NC.
Team members helping Chad are:
Eddie Munn, Tommy Brownfield, Larry Crolley, Beau Paxton, Mike Stacey
and Josh Newman. Doug, Brian and Cindy Marturano are the car
owners.
Chad started racing in 1989 in the
Street Stock class at Louisville Speedway because he grew up watching
his Dad race in the Arca Series in the '70's and '80's. His first
win was that same year. Career highlights include '01 Friendship
Speedway Late Model Champion, '06 & '07 Lancaster Speedway Late Model
Champion, $5,000 to win I-77 Shrine Race win in '08.
The thrill of racing for Chad is the
speed and winning. His most exciting racing moment was after
finishing 3rd in the Pop Pursley Memorial in '08 at I-77 Speedway, the
team loaded the car and headed across the river to Lancaster Speedway.
We arrived just in time for the Feature. After starting last, we
came all the way through the field to win. He's most proud of
being able to build and maintain his own cars which led to the current
team. He drives for Sandwood Racing.
Chad's racing hero is Ken Schrader.
Of racing, Chad says, "If you want to
make a little money racing, start with a lot!".
