Michael Pate drives the #8 Pure Street Stock class car.  His home track is Lancaster Speedway but he can also be found racing at Carolina Speedway and I-77 Speedway.  He lives in Fort Lawn, SC.

Team members helping Michael are:  Mama, Daddy, Melissa - wife, his kids, Hilltop Hobby Shop, Knox Bailey Race Cars, Sammy Roach, Jason Clinton.  James Belk and Otis Crocker are the car owners.

Michael started racing in 1997 in the Pure Stock Class at Lancaster Speedway because he has always been around the sport and he loves it.  His first win was in 2000 in the Street Stock Class at I-77 Speedway.  Career highlights include I-77 Speedway Points Champion in 2001.

The thrill of racing for Michael is the competition.  His most exciting racing moment was his first win.  He's most proud of his Points Championship.

Michael's racing hero is Dale Earnhardt.

Of racing, Michael says, "It's not for the money, it's the fun and competition that keeps me going!   If you are in it for the money QUIT! If  you are in it for the Joy and Excitement, give it all you got".
