Tony Coggins

Tony Coggins drives the #5 Thunder & Lightning Class car.  He lives in Marietta, SC.  His home track is Riverside Speedway.

Tony's #5 car is the blue and white Chevy with Wally Fowler built chassis.

He started racing in 1974 in the 4 Cyl Class at Speedway Park because his Dad raced.  His first win was in '74 in the 4 Cyl.  Career highlights include, Track Championship in T & L in 1999, 2nd in the Points in 2001-02, 1987 20 wins in Motorcycle.

The thrill of racing for Tony is that he built his own engine....if it runs good, it's fun!  The most exhilarating racing moment was when Tony was in the Cadet Class he flipped so high that you could see that flagman from looking under the car from the opposite side.  He's most proud of hanging in there with all of the drivers and winning Track Championship.

Dale Earnhardt Sr. is Tony's racing hero.

Of racing, Tony says, "Keep the good Lord on your side.....don't leave Him out!".
