Billy Gorman
#14
Billy Gorman drives the #14 Street Stock
Class car. He lives in Ravenel, SC. His home track is
Summerville Speedway but he can also be found racing at Hardeeville Motor
Speedway and Myrtle Beach Speedway.
He started racing in 1987 in the Street
Stock Class at Summerville Speedway after talking his brother, Tommy, into
racing in an Enduro Race, Billy decided to try it himself. His first
win was in 1988 in the Thunder & Lightning Class at Summerville Speedway.
Career highlights include: Missing 1988 Track Championship by 8
points, racing side by side with his brother, winning 2000 Bubba Chinnis
Race with his brother finishing 2nd.
The thrill of racing for Billy is the
competition, the challenge and the friendly competitors. His most
exciting racing moment was his first race, the first time he went wide
open into first turn at Summerville on the Old Dirt Track.....scared and
excited at the same time. He's most proud that he always raced clean
and always tried to improve his car.
Cale Yarborough is Billy's racing hero.
Of racing, Billy says, "Don't set in the
stands and say what you would do...get a car and do it!".
