Robert "Smitty" Smith drives the #5 Limited Modified Class car.  His home track is Houston Raceway Park but he can also be found racing at 105 Speedway.  He lives in Highlands, TX.

Team members helping Smitty are:  Justin & Michaela Smith, Sherri Smith, Mike Best, Mark Hurtgan, Burl Wittshire, Billy Gould Jr., Robert Allison, Buster Deen, Butch Brandon and Thomas Meek. 

Smitty started racing in 2000 in the Thunder Bomber Class at Battleground Speedway because his friends were involved in racing.  His first win was in '01 in the Thunder Bomber Class at Houston Raceway Park.  Career highlights include 2000 Thunder Bomber Rookie of the Year, '01 finished 4th in the Points in Thunder Bomber and 1 win, '02 finished in 2nd place in Points in the Thunder Bomber Class with 4 wins, '03 Track Champion in Thunder Bomber and 8 wins, '04 finished in 8th place in Points in the Thunder Bomber Class with 5 wins, '05 finished in 4th place in Points in the Limited Modified Class, '06 finished in 6th place in Points  in the Limited Modified Class, '07 & '08 have been a limited racing schedule. 

The thrill of racing for Smitty is the adrenaline rush!  His most exciting racing moment was starting 24th in the Thunder Bomber Class, 1 caution and then winning the race - last to first in 20 laps.  He's most proud of being competitive and all the friendships made.

Smitty's racing hero is his Dad, Ron Smith.
