Johnny started racing in 1995 in the Hot Stock Class at Heart O' Texas Speedway because his father-in-law and friends had raced cars. His first win was in 1997 in the Hot Stock Class at Heart O' Texas Speedway. Career highlights include 2000 Rookie of the Year Modified Texas Thunder.

The thrill of racing for Johnny is the competition. His most exciting moment was going to California. He started on the rear of the field 5 times and won on the last lap. He is most proud of being honored by many racers as a clean and fair racer.
