Mike Tennison drives the #63 Southern
Sport Mod Class car. His home track is Abilene Speedway. He
lives in Baird, TX.
Team members helping Mike are:
Shorty Tennison, Keith Buford, John Combile, Stephen and Garrett
Kirkland, Big Danny Taylor. Mike and Aleta Tennison are the car
owners.
Mike started racing in 1989 in the Mini
Mod Class at Abilene Speedway because it looked like fun. His Dad,
Shorty, raced for years and they still have a car in the field.
His first win was that same year. Career highlights include 5 Mini
Mod Championships and 1 Limited Late Model Championship.
The thrill of racing for Mike is the
challenge. His most exciting racing moment was too many to list.
He loves this sport and hate it that all are in the same night of
racing. It's a humbling sport to say the leas. He's
most proud of his family, even his 6 year old girl.
Mike's racing hero is his Dad.
Of racing, Mike says, "I'm 37, no DWI's,
no drug problems, spend my spare time and money on the car.
So it's worked to keep me out of trouble so I think more parents should
try it!".
