Tyson Sheffield
#3
Tyson Sheffield drives the #3 Winged 600
Class car. His home track is Cowtown Speedway but he can also be
found racing at Viper Speedway and anywhere that pays! He lives in
Amarillo, TX.
Team members helping Tyson are:
Terry Steward. Steward Bros Racing is the car owner.
Tyson started racing in 1996 in the 250
cc Micro Midget class at Amarillo Modified Midget Raceway because he'd
been around racing since he was 2 years old. It's in his blood.
Tyson raced from 1996 to 2001, took a few years off to help on a couple
of Sprint cars and then got back into the drivers seat full time in '09.
His first win was in '96. Career highlights include Track Champion
and Rookie of the Year at Amarillo Modified Midget Raceway in the 250 cc
Class in '96, Region 5 Champion in 250 cc, NMMA, Rookie of the Year and
Hard Luck Award in 600 cc in '97.
The thrill of racing for Tyson is the
speed and challenge of competing against other drivers. His most
exciting racing moment was winning his first Main Event in the 600 cc
Class and being part of a winning team. He's most proud of the
friendships he's made and the knowledge he has gained. Being able
to not only drive these cars but build them as well is a source of pride
and enjoyment for Tyson. He is also proud that they have been
competitive right out of the box this year at Cowtown Speedway.
Tyson's racing heroes are Tony Stewart
and A J Foyt.
Of racing, Tyson says, 'Racing is not
just something you do, it is something that you become! Don't lift
til you see God, then pass Him on the outside!".
