Matt Sherrell drives the #35 Midget
Class car. His home track is Creek County Speedway but he can also
be found racing at any Oklahoma track, Indiana or Illinois tracks.
He lives in Owasso, OK.
Team members helping Matt are: Vic
Sherrell, Mark Evans, Josh Cordova, Lisa Sherrell, Grandpa and Grandma.
Matt started racing in 1990 in the
Novice Quarter Midget class at Tulsa Quarter Midget Association because
his Grandfather raced Super Modifieds in Oklahoma, his Dad raced Go
Karts and his uncles raced so he's part of a big racing family.
His first win was that same year. Career highlights include '98 &
'99 125cc Tulsa Shootout Champion, '04 1200cc Mini Sprint Nationals
winner first time in that series of cars, 2000 125 cc Port City Raceway
Champion.
The thrill of racing for Matt is pure
speed and competition. You meet the greatest people in the world.
Very physical as well as mental activity that requires great teamwork
with your crew. His most exciting racing moment was when he moved
up to Midgets and got to race many USAC races at the biggest tracks in
the USA (Knoxville, Bellville, Chili Bowl, Manzanita). He's most
proud of how far he's gotten with the help of just his family and crew.
They race and compete with the best dirt drivers in the nation and they
have a blast doing it!
Matt's racing heroes are his
Grandfather, Dad and Tony Stewart.
Of racing, Matt says, "The best sport to
be involved in, although very expensive, you meet and deal with some of
the nicest, most generous people!".
