Vernon "Buck" Owens drives the #8 I-Stock Class car.  His home track is Texas Thunder Speedway.  He lives in Cedar Park, TX.

Buck started racing in 1965 in the Street Stock Class at Tri-City Speedway because his family was into racing, so he just fell into the sport.  His first win was in 1974 in the VW Class at Mannheim Germany.  Career highlights include finishing 2nd and 3rd in season Points numerous times over his career.

The thrill of racing for Buck is the competitiveness of the sport.  His most exciting racing moment was when they just got the I-Stock sanctioned in Texas at the Cen Tex Speedway in '95.  He's been racing in the same class ever since.  He's most proud of getting other Texas tracks to sanction the I-Stocks.

Buck's racing hero is Roger McClusky.

Of racing, Buck says, "Come pay for a seat!  You will only need the edge because it is the most exciting sport you will ever watch.  Local Dirt Track racing ...come enjoy!".
