J P Vasquez Jr. drives the #17 Sport Mod Class car.  His home track is Lady Luck Speedway but he can also be found racing at Route 66 Speedway and Lubbock Motor Speedway.  He lives in Lubbock, TX.

Team members helping J P are:  Mom, Dad, Brother Josh, Michael Therwhanger, Mo Therwhanger, Jeff Emerson, Jeff Whitehead.  J P Vasquez Sr. is the car owner.

J P started racing in 2007 in the Sport Mod and Street Stock Class at Lubbock Motor Speedway because his Dad raced for 17 years and J P has been coming to the track since he was 2 weeks old.  His first win was that same year.  Career highlights include finishing 2nd in '09 Sport Mods at Lady Luck Speedway, winning back to back wins in '08 and '11 at Lady Luck Speedway.

The thrill of racing for J P is to be able to take a low budget race team and still out perform his competition.  His most exciting racing moment was qualifying every night at the Southern Challenge in Abilene, TX where 95 Sport Mod cars showed up in '08.  He's most proud of being able to unload his car and know that he can win any night.

J P's racing heroes are Monte Bolton and Jeff Emerson.
