Ken Datesman
#15
Ken Datesman drives the #15 Mini Modified
Class car. He lives in Arlington, VA. His home track is Old
Dominion Speedway.
He started racing in 2000 in the Mini
Stock Class at Old Dominion Speedway because he loves racing and wanted to
drive fast. Ken was the 2000 Old Dominion Speedway Mini Stock Rookie
of the Year and 7 out of 7 top five finishes this year.
The thrill of racing for Ken is watching
the hard work pay off, learning more about the cars and setups, spending
time with his good friends on his crew and at the track and going fast.
His most exciting racing moment was when he car caught on fire from a
punctured fuel cell. That will get your heart pumping. After
that, the next most exciting racing moment would be the first laps he led
at the beginning of this year when he led by 20 laps. He's most
proud of coming back from adversity when it's been needed. Watching
his crew develop into a championship contender this year.
Ken's racing hero is Dale Earnhardt.
Of racing, Ken says, "It isn't as easy as
it looks on TV. Short track racers at the local level work just as
hard as anyone else in racing, so support your local track and their
sponsors. The next Champion may be right before your eyes!".
