Gary L. Phares drives the #424 Super Pro Class car. He lives in Boyce, Va. His home track is Old Dominion Speedway but he can also be found racing at  Sumerduck Dragway.

He began racing in 1985 in Pro at Sumerduck Dragway because he had always wanted to build and drive a race car. His first win was  in 1988 at Sumerduck Dragway in Super Pro. Career highlights include, Track Champion Sumerduck Dragway 1989,1990,1994,1997. On June 18th 2004 he won the Quick 16 Dragster Race and the Super Pro Race on the same night at Sumerduck Dragway.

The thrills of racing for  Gary are  the competition and going fast. His most exciting racing moment was on June 18th 2004 when he won the Quick 16 Dragster Race and the Super Pro Race on the same night at Sumerduck Dragway. He is most proud of spending time with and winning races with his Father.

His racing hero is  John Force.

Of racing, Gary says, "Take classes in Automotive at your local college and learn to  do allot of the work yourself".
