Tom Campbell
#31c
Tom Campbell drives the #31c Modified
Class car. His home track is I-30 Speedway but he can also be
found racing at Beebe Speedway, Murphysboro Speedway and tracks in OK,
MS and TX.
Team members helping Tom are:
Son-in-law - Todd White, Scott & Clay Brown.
Tom started racing in 1963 in the 6
Cylinder Class at I-30 Speedway to have fun. He didn't race on the
street, but he did take his motor out of his '57 every week to put it in
the race car, racing on weekends. Then he'd put it back in his
street car for the week! Career highlights include numerous
Feature wins and Championships, 3 years in a row at Beebe Speedway.
He's raced against great drivers like Mark Martin, Wayne Brooks and
Tommy Rolland.
The thrill of racing for Tom is the
competition and doing it his way. "The Poor Boy racing against the
money!". His most exciting racing moment was qualifying for the
Nationals at Boone IA racing against 365 cars. He's most proud of
being competitive and helping others. And, he's mellowed a little
over the years!
Tom's racing hero is Mark Martin.
Of racing, Tom says, "It isn't always
profitable. You could dig a hole in your back yard and throw your
money into it.....like a bottomless pit. However, it is still fun
and I like racing against the young guys!".
