 Gary Brooks

Gary Brooks drives the #21 UMP/IMCA Modified Class car.  He lives in Charlotte, NC.  His home track is East Lincolnton Motor Speedway but he can also be found racing at Volusia Speedway Park.

He started racing in 1957 in Go-Karts at the Bubble Gum Speedway because his father was involved with it.  His first win was in that same year.  Career highlights include 9 Track Championships - 1971, '72, '75, '82, '83, '84, '85, '86, Devils Bowl twice, Buffalo Park Speedway 3 times, over 350 Feature wins in Open Wheel Modified and Late Model.  In addition, Gary has run at USAC Stock Cars, Craftsman Truck Series and Winston Cup.

The thrill of racing for Gary is the speed and concentration.  His most exciting racing moment was winning the Championship in 1984 by winning 15 races in a row.  He's most proud of making it to 3 races in Winston Cup.

Gary's racing hero is Richard Petty.

Of racing, Gary says, "Be safe and have as much fun as possible!".
