He began racing in 2003 in Open Wheel Lites for the fun of it. His first win was in 2003 in Open Wheel Lite Class at Texana Thunder Speedway in Alvin, Texas. Career highlights include, 2003 Rookie of the Year at Texana Raceway, Edna, Texas, and in 2004 2nd in Points at Texana Classic Dwarf Club.

The thrills of racing for him is having a good time and meeting alot of good friends The most exciting racing moments for Douglas are each time he gets on the track. He is most proud of winning Rookie of the Year.
