Jess Hartman drives the #J5 Modified car. He lives in Zanesville, Ohio. His home track is Muskingum County Speedway.

He began racing in 1997 in Pure Stock at R & R Speedway because he had grown up around it. His first win was the same year  and track. Career highlights include, 1997 Pure Stock Champion, 1999 Muskingum County speedway Street Stock World Champion and in 2000 AMRA Points Champion at Cannonball.

The thrills of racing for Jess are the seed and the competition. His most exciting racing moment was winning Muskingum County Speedways Street Stock  World Championship. He is most proud of being successful.

His racing hero is Jeff Boyd (Z-28).
