Shan Smith drives the #17ss Crate Late Model Class car in the Fastrak Series.  His home track is East Bay but he can also be found racing at Putnam County Speedway.  He lives in Dade City, FL.  People who helped Shan are:  Kip Brandel .. Crew Chief , Big Daddy, Tom Seckman, Chuck Larson, Mom.

Shan started racing in 1991 in the Go-Karts Class at Seffner Speedway because his whole family raced.  His first win was in 1991 in the Stock Lite Class at Dade City.  Career highlights include 2004 East Bay Raceway Park Rookie of the Year Late Model. 

The thrill of racing for Shan is the competition.  His most exciting racing moment was when he ran 2nd last year at East Bay.  He's most proud of not having anything given to him.

Shan's racing hero is Donnie Tanner.
