Billy started racing in 1979 in the Modified Street class at Atomic Speedway.  His father had raced so he started. He got his first win in 1980  in a Modified Street at Atomic.

In 1982 Billy switched to late models. He won 13 track championships.  His considers winning a UDTRA feature his greatest racin accomplishment.  The thrill of racing for Billy is "winning".

Dale Earnhardt Sr. is his racing hero.
