STANCILL TAKES LEGENDS CAR FUN RUN - WILSON
WINS BABY GRAND FINALE
ON FINAL NIGHT OF 2005 ORLANDO SPEEDWORLD WINTERNATIONALS
Orlando Speedworld wrapped up the 2005 Winternationals Saturday night with
"Fun Run" for the remaining RE/MAX Legends cars in attendance and the grand
finale for MMRA action.
With the Legends Cars running for points on the first four nights only,
drivers were given the option to head to Daytona for the big show, get an
early head start for home, or say and compete on Saturday night, just for
in a racing program similar to those run during the regular season here.
Fortunately, enough cars stayed to actually split the heat races down by
class with Semi_pro heats begin taken by Dan Snyder of Mooresville, NC and
Wesley McLeod of nearby Altamonte Springs FL. Plano, TX driver Brent Seeley
won the Pro Division heat while the Masters division heat fell to James
Rodriguez of West Palm Beach, FL.
Snyder had the pole for the feature and led the opening three laps before
Pro division driver Ben Stancill of Ayden, NC took over and led the
of the 25 lap distance.
Only three minor cautions slowed the pace and Stancill was the class of
field, taking the win and making up for what Stancill considered a "not too
good" week of points racing.
Pro driver Michael Van Wingerden took second ahead of Pro driver Brent
while Snyder got the Semi-Pro bonus for finishing fourth ahead of Pro driver
Matt Bowers, Wesley McLeod, Mark Bakaj, C.E. Falk III, and James Rodriguez
rounded out the top ten with Rodriguez taking the Masters bonus.
After all the carnage on Friday night, only 12 MMRA Baby Grands were able
start their 35 lap Winternationals finale.
Only two harmless spins slowed this one as Chris Wilson of Crossville, TN
took the lead from Mooresville, NC's Nick Proffitt on lap eight and he
to an easy win. Proffitt held on for second over Neil Johnston (up from the
last row on the start), Tiger Tyler Brown and Tyler Cole.
Rounding out the top ten were Clifford Pugh, Matthew Goodnight, Ken Owens,
Michael Kipp and Keeton Hanks, who dropped out mid-race while fighting for
The MMRA Future Stars Mini-Cup race was won by Jacob France of Mt. Juliet,
TN over Dylan Presnell, Mason Mitchell, Mason Mingus and Donald McIntosh.
The MMRA Mini-Cup Open division feature was taken by Travis McCarty who
trailed by Thomas McVay, Chad Willis, Jake Coll and France.
In Bandelero action, Gerald White, Jr. won for the third time during the
Winternationals in the Bandits while Mitchell Cole also claimed his third
in Young Guns. Outlaw winner Kara Clarke scored her fourth win of the week.
