Rain forces cancellation of
Volunteer Speedway Fastrak Racing Series national championship event

BULLS GAP, Tenn. – With rain moving into the East Tennessee
region in early afternoon, and the National Weather Service forecast
calling for rain to continue falling overnight into Friday, the
Fastrak Racing Series Crate Late Model national championship event
scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 19 at Volunteer Speedway has been
canceled. With the show at "The Gap" the opening leg of the
three-race Fastrak Racing Series national shootout, followed by the
next two nights at Riverside Speedway, located in Travelers Rest,
S.C., and Lancaster (S.C.) Speedway, the Volunteer Speedway event
will not be rescheduled.
A strong field of 60-plus competitors from all over the country,
representing such states as Oregon, Washington, South Dakota,
Wisonsin, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Tennessee, Virginia, West
Virginia, Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, North Carolina and
South Carolina were present Thursday at "The Gap."
The $250,000 Fastrak Racing Series national championship point fund
will now be distributed based on the two South Carolina events. The
driver with the combined highest point total from the two nights of
racing will pocket $50,000, with the remainder of the money to be
distributed back to 50th-place, which will receive $500.
