Jay Steffens drives the #12J IMCA Modified Class car. he lives in North Platte, NE. His home track is Lincoln County Raceway but he can also be found racing at McCook Speedway and Dawson county Speedway.

He began racing in 1992 in Stock Class at Lincoln County Speedway because it looked fun so he bought a Stock car really cheap and went racing. His first win was in 2000 in Modified Class at Lincoln. Career highlights include 2004 Lincoln County Raceway Track Champion, 2004 McCook Speedway Track Champion and 6 wins in 2004.

The thrills of racing for Jay are competition side by side racing, and going fast. His most exciting racing moments are winning his first race, making the  Race of Champion at the Super nationals and being competitive every time he goes on the track. He is most proud of building winning race cars for Big Dog Chassis.
