Danny Smith #17 Danny is 34 years old and from Newburgh In, His home track is Chandler Motor Speedway. He also races at Windy Hollow. Danny began racing in 1998 in a street stock at Chandler. His cousin brought a car to his house because he had no place to store it. That opened the door for Danny to try it. He had always wanted to race but did not have the money to get started. He got his first win in 1999 in a street stock at Chandler speedway. The 2002 car is a "built it my self" 74 Chevy Monte Carlo with a 400sb. The thrill of racing for Danny is "being able to get that win after all the hard work that goes into it. Being able to keep a positive attitude (his rear bumper says ATTITUDE) even when things are tough just do the right thing, and praise god for life and love. When ask of his greatest racin thrill Danny said there was two. #1 Was in 1999 when his car bounced on the guard rail sailed up into the air and then did a 180. He way called the Ballerina of racin for the year of 1999. #2 In 2001 the championship came down to the last night of the season, and Danny took the checkered flag and won the championship the same night. Danny ranks getting the sportsman of the year award in his first season and getting the track championship in 2001 as his greatest racing accomplishments. Who helped: "I get great support from my wife Lisa. Sometimes she wants to race more that I do. She even gets her hands on the dirty work. My four kids allow me to have this sport. Ernie Butch, Norm Jeff, Glen, and Pop. The goal is "to keep racing as long as I can." Richard Petty is his favorite driver. Quote:" Keep it fun, lets go racin, attitude is everything.
